Still Searching....

Its been a long time since we updated our blog and a lot has happened in our lives! We had an amazing trip through BC in the summer- we saw many great places, met some amazing people and learned A LOT about looking for land- which questions to ask, why what appears to be a "good deal" may actually not, and specifically what we need on a piece of land to meet our lifestyle needs....

We spent the fall of 2008 in Israel, traveling and catching up with friends and family there. We refined our vision in some ways, and expanded it in others. We are now back in Canada, on a gulf island off the coast of Vancouver Island, wintering in a good community with good friends. We're still keeping our eyes and ears open for a good piece of land and good people to share it with and we feel fortunate that the price of real estate is becoming more affordable as the months pass...we figure we have at least another year of good prices before the market starts to change...

Our main focus for locations is on Vancouver Island, from Comox Valley to Cowichan Valley, as well as the Kootenays, primarily areas surrounding Nelson. We still want at least 3 acres for ourselves, more if we are land sharing.

If this is your first time visiting our blog, please read through the previous posts, and don't hesitate to contact us for more information. If you leave a comment and would like a response, please include contact details!

Thank you,

Sarah and Guy

Hi Sarah and Guy,

My name is Amy Brown-Bowers and I'm working on a story about co-buying when you are not a couple (e.g. co-buying property with a friend, stranger, sibling etc...) for an online publication. I came across your blog during an internet search and was wondering if I might talk to you briefly for the piece. I'd be asking you about the process you are going through to co-buy land. Why you are wanting to co-buy, how you are going about it, etc...

I'd be happy to do this over e-mail, if you would prefer - I can send my questions by e-mail and you can respond that way as well.

To meet my deadline, I'd need to connect with you by the end of the day Tuesday August 18.

I'm happy to answer any questions and can be reached at a_brownbowers@yahoo.com.

Best,
Amy

We are currently looking at land in Coombs near Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island. We would consider land partners who have at least $180,000 to buy a half share in land (buy the land outright together) or who are interested in renting / leasing land long term. We have a 3 year old, 6 year old and homeschool and are interested in building a natural home and growing our own food. The 12.5 acres raw land under consideration is partially cleared and has a creek and a pond and will likely be listed for around 380,000 soon (early July 2010). Contact me at coastalrevelations@gmail.com if you want to talk about this soon.
